Yes, the days when you could drive a car and talk casually on the phone are over. At least in the United States. There was recently a major initiative based on a study by the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This organization, after studying the statistics of road accidents, came to the logical conclusion that the use of mobile devices while driving a car leads to an increase in accidents. Experts point out that we are not just talking about surfing or matching, but any other scenario.
They are also convinced that to improve road safety, the strictest measures should be taken in the form of a complete ban on the use of gadgets while driving. In 2021 alone, the number of deaths in accidents, due to the fact that drivers’ attention has turned to gadgets, reached 3,000. This is despite the fact that in some parts of the United States relatively strict restrictions are already established on the use of wearable technology while driving. At the same time, statistics show that in states with the tightest restrictions, the reduction in accidents occurs at the fastest rate.
If road safety is in the foreground, then bans on the use of mobile electronics should become even stricter. Thus, a large part of the experts is in favor of equating smartphones while driving with drunk driving. At the same time, it will be impossible to use phones not only while driving, but also during stops, for example, in traffic jams.
