The Arctic is becoming an increasingly important region in terms of gas production. Industrial enterprises are growing rapidly and need appropriate production equipment. It is optimal not to bring it from afar, but to pick it up as close as possible to the place of use. Large-scale construction began near the village of Belokamenka in the Murmansk region. Now it’s gonna start here production of large units of offshore platforms for the production of natural gas. The workshop building is able to impress even worldly wise people.
It has a volume of 9 million cubic meters, and its length and width are 280 and 345 meters respectively. But above all, the height of a twenty-storey building is surprising. The workshop is made up of five bays, it can organize three work areas for the simultaneous assembly of three modules of the upper structures of the offshore platform. Once assembly is complete, the modules will be sent to the Gydan Peninsula in the Kara Sea. The end point of delivery of the gas production equipment will be the most important for the project Arctic LNG 2 Utrenneye Fieldwhere the modules will be installed on a floating gravity platform.
This assembly facility is unique, as is the Arctic LNG 2 project itself. It is assumed that launching three lines at once will provide production of liquefied natural gas at the level of 19.8 million tons per year. The country will also receive up to 1.6 million tons of gas condensate per year. The implementation of this megaproject became possible thanks to the active support of the state. The authorities understand its importance and prospects and have granted the Novatek-Murmansk company significant preferences and benefits, granted it the status of a resident of a priority development zone (TOR).
